Merle B. Aspinwall, age 93, passed away on June 19, 2022 at her home. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 3, 1928 to George C. Carter and Jennie Ruth Stanfield Carter. She was a graduate from Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1946 and before marriage worked as a secretary to an attorney. Merle married Azell O. “Buck” Aspinwall on September 1, 1950 and worked as a homemaker, mother and for a short period of time in the early 1980’s with an office supply company. Merle had a wide variety of interests, which included singing in the choir of Gardenview Baptist Church (previously known as Riverview Baptist Church) and also retired as a Sunday School teacher; she crocheted, baked cakes for weddings, birthday and showers and spent time with her family.
Ms. Aspinwall is survived by sons Richard Glenn Aspinwall (Bonnie) of St. Augustine, FL and Mark Patrick Aspinwall of Florahome, FL; daughter Karen Aspinwall Barbee (Glenn) of Callahan, FL; sister Janet Rose Hill of Hilliard, FL; brother Robert L. Carter of Everett, WA; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents George C. and Jennie Ruth Stanfield Carter; husband Azell O. “Buck” Aspinwall; son Joseph B. Aspinwall; daughter-in-law Tina L. Aspinwall; five brothers Christy Carter, Walton Carter, Leon Carter, Byron Carter and Beverly Carter; and three sisters Delores Phillips, Eileen Carter and Patricia Nave.

A visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205, Friday, June 24, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the Graveside Service at Riverside Memorial Park following at 11:00 a.m.
