Melanie Mae (Dollar) Sorrell (Jacksonville, Florida), passed away on December 29, 2021, at the age of 59. She is survived by her beloved husband of 17 years, Richard K. Sorrell, Ryan Williamson (son), Penny Rogers (Sister), Marna Dyess (Sister), Gary Williamson (Former Spouse), Samantha Sorrell (Daughter), Ramona Litton (Daughter), Christian (Grandson) and Sophie (Granddaughter).
Melanie was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on August 25, 1962, daughter to the late Robert Leroy Dollar and Reba Jean (Davis) Dollar, She graduated from Lauderdale High School, class of 1981, graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelors degree in accounting in 1984. Additionally, she studied medical coding at Southeastern College, graduating with an Associate’s Degree. She was previously employed as a Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley, and as a Compliance Officer at Alexander-Key. She was last employed at First Coast Heart and Vascular as a Medical Coder for over 5 years. Mel enjoyed scuba diving, beach life, and spending quality time with her family, friends, and her dog Charly.
A visitation will be held at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. for family and 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 PM for friends.
A service will take place at the funeral home the following day at 11:00 am.
