Martha Sue Register Martin was born on August 18th, 1949 and passed away on April 18th, 2021. She grew up in Douglas, Georgia with her mother, Lue Dell Reed, father, Isaac Reed, and two brothers David and Bob. Her childhood was full of love and happiness, and she grew up learning how to care for people and treat them with kindness.
She loved spending time with her family and attended church frequently as a child.
She earned a license in Interior Design to pursue her love for decorating and had her own design firm for many years. She was an excellent cook, always making intricate dishes and making sure her company had the best food to eat. She loved hosting parties and inviting family over for gatherings every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
In 1967, she married Wayne Holt and had one son named Robert. As he grew up, she was a dutiful mother and made sure he was raised with the same ideals her parents had taught her. Robert married Annette Roberson in 1995, having four children named Carter, Aaron, Grace, and Emily. Sue was a loving and selfless grandma, giving her grandchildren everything they could ever wish for. Even when they were apart, she would call and check up on them, especially when her oldest grandkids Carter and Aaron moved away for college. She told stories of her mother and father, making sure her memories would live on after she passed.
In 1996, Sue married John Martin. She helped care for his three children, Scott Martin, Marilyn Livingston, and Melinda Martin. Their marriage was filled with fun adventures including trips within the United States as well as in Europe. Sue loved to travel, with some of her favorite trips being to Scotland, France, and Colorado where she enjoyed skiing.
In her later years, she enjoyed staying at home with her husband John, her dog Leo, and her cat Thomas. She was visited frequently by her son Robert as well as her two granddaughters Grace and Emily to check on her and spend quality time with her. Throughout her battle with Congestive Heart Failure, she remained strong and cared for others despite her struggling health. She found strength in her faith, but also in her family who continuedly cared for her until her death. Her soul is now at rest alongside her ancestors and God in heaven.
