Lora Evans Phillips, 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 28, 2015 with her family by her side. Lora was born in Clendenin, West Virginia on August 9, 1941. Lora and her family moved to Florida when she was 17 years old. She was married to Cecil A. Phillips for 54 years, who predeceased her in death. Lora was the original “coal miner’s daughter”.
Lora worked as a bus driver for Trinity Christian Academy. Lora is remembered for being a loving, nurturing and wonderful daughter, mother, and grandmother. She was a mother to all and her family was her life. She was our mother and we love her beyond words and will be missed immensely.
Lora would “tell it like it was” and would help anyone in need. She was generous, kind and thoughtful. She was known as “grannie” and especially “mom”. Lora loved gardening and had a special ability for azaleas, roses and hibiscus plants.
She is survived by her 3 daughters; Loretta Hackett; Vivian White (Duane); and Carmel Raffety; 3 brothers; 5 sisters; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for a visitation on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 2, 2015.
