Reid, Lois Emma, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was born in Gary, Indiana to Francis B. and Gladys E. (Brown) Smith on January 30, 1929. She moved to Jacksonville in 1966 from Kansas. She worked for Scotty’s Lumber until 1985 where she was known as everybody’s “Mama”. If anyone needed anything they would come to her. Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Reid, Sr. and her son, Dwight Smith. Left to cherish her memory are 2 sons; Charles Reid of Kansas and Chester Reid, Jr of Jacksonville, a daughter; Carrie (Patrick) Knezevich of Land o Lakes, Florida; a sister, Dorothy Ames of Georgia; seven grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville with Pastor Larry McGinley officiating.
