As a child, Linda played softball and was a cheerleader for Lakeshore Athletic Association. She was an amazing athlete and eventually crowned Miss Lakeshore, the highest female award at the park. She graduated from Robert E Lee high school in 1976 and shortly after, attended stenography school. Linda worked for a brief time as a court stenographer before pursuing her interest in accounting. She began working for Beaver Street Fisheries in 1984 and was the supervisor of Accounts Payable until 2001. During her life, she often tended bar as a part-time job while raising her only child, Lindsey. Lindsey was the light of her life. Linda was extremely active in her daughter’s academic success as well as supportive of her sports, music, and other endeavors. She coached Lindsey in softball for many years and truly had a passion for it. When Linda’s grandchildren, Connor and Hannah, were born, she was absolutely thrilled, and she was overjoyed to become a great-nanny to Kason in March of 2023. She enjoyed cooking and baking for, and with her grandchildren, especially around the holidays. Her favorite meals for them were pancakes, steak, and spaghetti and they loved that she always let them pick their dinner. She was recently able to pass the torch of Thanksgiving pecan pies to her granddaughter and was delighted to brag about what a good job she did. Linda loved any water activity, whether it was fishing on a boat, or soaking up the sun by the pool and in her youngest days, spent countless hours at the beach with her daughter. She loved video games and board games and had a fiercely competitive spirit, even with her own child/grandchildren. When they finally were able to beat her at Tetris or MarioKart, it made those victories so much sweeter. Linda was also a dog lover and had many pets over the years; however, she held a special place in her heart for her lab, Ally and her jack russell, Lola. Linda’s greatest joy in life was not money, vacations, or work but spending time with her friends and family, the people she loved most.
She is predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Nancy Williams and her brothers, Charles Rose and Glenn Williams. Linda is survived by her loving daughter, Lindsey Spillers (Brandon), grandson, Connor Spillers, and granddaughter, Hannah Spillers, as well as her great-grandson, Kason Spillers. Linda is also survived by her brother Bill Williams (Jean), her sister Wendy Gvozdich (Michael), her beloved dog Lola, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Linda will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225, followed by a Memorial Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
