Linda Elizabeth (Minchew) Denney (82) passed away peacefully on November 21, 2022 after a long fought battle with COPD, kidney failure and several other medical issues. She was at home surrounded by her family as she slipped away to be with the Lord with them sitting around her bedside, holding her hands and singing her favorite church hymns. Linda was a Christian of Baptist faith we rejoice in knowing that she is now in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ with no more pain or suffering. Linda was born on December 9, 1939 and was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida. She was a devoted wife, to the love of her life, Donald L. Denney for 62 years, they shared a special love that never faded. Linda enjoyed drawing and painting. Her favorite pastime was looking at pictures of her family, reliving all of the memories and retelling the stories behind the pictures. She made beautiful scrapbooks for all 5 of her grandchildren from birth through high school and presented it to them at their graduation.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Lessie L. and step father, Walter Mechum, 3 brothers, Frank Minchew, Preston Minchew and John Minchew. Linda is survived by her husband, Donald L. Denney, son, Donald Denney II (Kelly) and daughter, LaTasha D. Pennybaker (Tad), five grandchildren, Hilary Crutcher (Stephen), Zachary Denney (Shelby), Jared Pennybaker (Amanda), Timothy Denney, Wyatt Pennybaker, one great granddaughter, Clara Elizabeth Crutcher (her namesake) her Sister Delores Reaves (Ivan), sister-in-law Della Minchew, sister-in-law Lucretia Thomas, 3 brothers, Richard Minchew (Bycie), Kenneth Minchew (Pam), David Minchew and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Linda will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022.Rev. Ronald Beasley will be presiding the services at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, 904-781-9262. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 11am. The chapel service will begin at noon, with graveside interment to follow.
