Kay Sheffield Coffey, age 62, died peacefully on Monday, February 11, 2013 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. A Jacksonville native, Kay was born on January 31, 1951, the daughter of Ralph and Harriet Sheffield. Kay graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson High School - Class of 1968. She began her employment at WJXT at the age of 19 and retired after more than 40 years of dedicated service.
Kay was a loving wife, wonderful mother of 3, and grandmother of 3. She poured her heart and soul into her family and her church. She was a strong and faithful follower of Jesus Christ and used her talents and gifts in dedicated service in her church's choir and children's programs.
Kay is survived by her husband, Michael Coffey, her brother Ralph Sheffield, her daughters Katie McGill (Marcus) and Melissa Yuhas (Brian), her son Ryan Coffey (Caty), and 3 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from four o’clock until six o’clock in the evening. Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at San Jose Baptist Church, 6140 San Jose Blvd. Interment will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
