Katie married Robert, her husband of 70 years, shortly after high school in 1946. They moved to Jacksonville in 1957, where they resided for the remainder of their lives. Katie started work at Winn Dixie in the late 1960s, where she remained until her retirement in 1993. She was very active in the Church, loved travel, was an avid sports fan. Above all, Katie will be remembered for her outgoing and caring nature - a trait that drew so many to her.
Katie is preceded in death by her daughter Vickie, her son Steve and her husband Robert. She is survived by her son Chris (Stella) Williams, her grandchildren Sarah, Kristen and Lauren, and by Steve’s long-time partner Jerry Alford.
Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home is serving the family. A visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 8523 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221. The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 10:30am at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Katie will be laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
