Joya Nicole Wright Smith, age 42, was born on April 19, 1980 to Curtis James Allen and Glynn Brenda Akeredolu. Joya was born in Coney Island, NY at Coney Island Hospital weighing 5 pounds 13 ounces, but Joya had the biggest and brightest impact in this world. Joya completed her Associate’s degree, her Bachelor’s and also completing her Master’s degree in Health Science.
Joya enjoyed helping others all the time, sometimes more than herself. She loved the health field and she was smart, brilliant, loving, happy, and very prayerful. Joya loved family and made her mother and father her best friends. She would always say, “These are my best friends”. She was so many things to many – loving, kind, gentle, firm, fervent, courageous, smart, loyal, and humble. Even though she was the baby sister of five, she was the boss.
Joya was not big in figure, but had a giant personality; she was where you needed her to be. Joya met her husband Wesley Leon Smith on June 9, 2010 and united on December 31, 2010. She resided in Michigan with her husband.
In her last moments, Joya resided with her mother in Jacksonville, where she took her crown of glory on October 25, 2022. Joya leaves behind her husband, Wesley; her mother and best friend, Glynn; four sisters Desiree M. Wright, Arlene Merced, Latoya Wright, and Priscilla Lynn Kassim; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, colleagues, god children, and friends.
A graveside service for Joya will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
