Joy was born October 6, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Rachel Saaranen and her sister, Karen Lehr.
Joy is survived by her husband of 22 years, James “Jim” Fisher; her 3 sons, Derrick (Janet), Brian, & Steven Cook; 3 granddaughters, Jenna, Sara, & Olivia; her brother, Glen (Janice) Saaranen; brother-in-law, Albert Lehr; and Jim’s 3 sons, Mark, Tim, & Mike Fisher.
Joy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and special friend to many. She graduated from Redford High School, worked, married her first husband and raised her 3 boys prior to moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1995.
In 1998 she married James "Jim" L. Fisher. Joy worked for 15 years at Home Instead Senior Care, spending the last 5 years in their human resources department. She was a member of the San Jose Catholic Church; an active member of the Jacksonville Corvette Club and served on various charities.
Joy loved her flowers and enjoyed gardening. She especially loved taking delicate care of her butterflies, and sharing her nurturing, tender love and care with any & all animals.
A loving and kind soul who was adored by many, Joy will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 25th at San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Rd # A, Jacksonville, FL 32217.
