Joseph J. Accardi

Joe led a very interesting life beginning with three years in the US Army during WWII, serving in the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper and Medic. Joe was at The Battle of the Bulge, The Normandy Invasion and Sicily. He then was a Police Officer for the NY Port of Authority at Kennedy Airport for over 20 years. Upon his retirement Joe went to work for the US Post Office, after his retirement from there he had multiple jobs and worked until he was 89.

As a Member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Joe served as an Usher at the 12 o’clock Sunday Mass and was a member of the Men’s Club.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Jeannie Gallina; and son, Nick Accardi; his grandchildren, Stephanie Moyer, EJ Acierno and Adrienne Gady; great grandchildren, Tyler Acierno, Delaney Moyer, Cole Moyer, Samuel Acierno and Levi Gady.

Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Grace.

Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 19 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Historic Catholic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32223 with inurnment to follow in the church cemetery.
