She was born in Balogo Centro, Binmaley, Pangasinan, Philippines on February 25, 1938. The daughter of a decorated World War II U.S.Army infantry soldier and spouse of a decorated U.S. Navy veteran, she was the eldest of three sisters and matriculated to the University of Santo Tomas earning degrees in nursing and midwifery where she graduated class salutatorian and class president. She emigrated to the United States in the mid-sixties and served in the nursing profession in a variety of capacities as a lifelong Jacksonville resident and was involved with various Filipino American cultural, veteran and other civic organizations as well as Catholic Campus Ministries.
She was a committed Catholic Christian, devoted spouse, loving mother and grandmother as well as an avid bingo enthusiast.
She is survived by her husband Gerry, her children, Joge, Ferman (Merlyn) and Jennifer (Al); and her grandson, Raphael.
A visitation for Josefina will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Fort Caroline Road, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
A Mass of Christian burial will occur on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Fort Caroline Road, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
A temporary entombment will occur Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207. Permanent placement will take place at a later date.
