Johnny Craig Schulz was a man of faith who loved his family above all things.
Craig grew up in mostly rural Georgia and South Carolina. He attended Groves High School in Savannah, GA. And he joined the Navy at 18. He was proud to have served in the Middle East during Desert Shield and he always appreciated all veterans and their sacrifices.
While stationed in Bahrain, he met the love of his life. His wife Sharon. They were married at Riverside Baptist Church in Savannah more than 33 years ago. Craig and Sharon settled in Jacksonville after he finished his commitment to the Navy.
Craig had always had a love of learning new things. He worked to become part of the IBEW Apprenticeship Training Program. He graduated from that program with perfect attendance. He loved being an electrician. The challenges of the job, the people who became his Union Brothers.
He also had a great love for sports. He played softball for many years here in Jacksonville. He was also a major fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Atlanta Falcons, unless they were playing his beloved Jaguars. The Atlanta Braves were his baseball team. And the Georgia Bulldogs were the college team he followed.
Craig was a complex man. And everything he did, he did with full commitment. He loved life completely. He was a great friend to all.
Craig is survived by his wife Sharon, his son Josh, his daughter Jadyn, his daughter-in-law Megan, his granddaughter Aurora, his mother Pat, and his brother Brent. Each one of these people were part of his heart and Craig will always be part of their hearts.
A visitation for Johnny will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. John's Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida 32225, followed by a Celebration of his life at 11:00 AM.
