John Percival Silsby

John Percival Silsby, 85, died October 23, 2011 with his loving family by his side. Born March 24, 1926 in New Smyrna Beach, FL, Predeceased by parents Isabelle Ellen Teats and Dr. Harry Z. Silsby. Survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Jean; daughters, Rose Ellen and Catherine Silsby; sons, John and Mark Silsby; daughter-in-laws, Antoinette Trout Silsby and Lee Mei Kwou Silsby; grandchildren, Oliver, Jesse, Grace, Lily Silsby, Alex, Scott, and Max Hogshead; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Mackenzie Silsby; his sister, Martha Ellen Heller. A Veteran of WWII. He served with 7th Armored Div (489 Field Artillery) in Europe 1944-1945. Graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology 1949, MBA JU 1983. Employed by SCM Glidden Co. for 36 years in Research and Development. One of Originators of North FL Amateur Radio Society, Active member of Army Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) for 42 years. The family will receive friends from 9:00am until 10:00am, Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Highlands United Methodist Church, 1955 Broward Rd., Jacksonville, FL., followed by Funeral Service at 10:00am at the church. Entombment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park of Jacksonville, FL. with US Army Military Honors. Arrangements are under the care of Hardge-Giddens Main St. Funeral Home, 4315 Main St., Jacksonville, FL 32206.
