Born on December 6, 1932 in Sylvester, GA. He was a US Army Veteran, after the Army he moved to Clearwater where he wife Joy and thy moved to Largo, FL. Earlier in life he was a frame and trim carpenter, with his most recent occupation was the grounds keeper at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo, FL. He enjoyed making many things from wood and was always there to help friends and neighbors. Joel always had a smile and a hand to shake with a “How you?”. He was a loving, caring and hardworking man that enjoyed having fun. After the passing of his wife Joy in 2018 he continued to live in Largo, FL until just a short time ago he moved with his daughter and Carl to Fernandina Beach, FL.
Joel was preceded in passing by his wife, Joy Brooks; parents Willie B. and Ava Brooks and brother Howard Brooks.
He is survived by his daughters: LuWanda Brooks (Carl Felgemacher) and Marsha Adkins (Gary); grandsons, Adam and Cody Adkins; brothers: Donald Brooks (Laura) and Bill Brooks (Dee) and many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Evergreen Baptist Church, 1690 Evergreen Road, Sylvester, GA 31791.
