JoAnn was born April 1st, 1933, in Erie, Pennsylvania to Charlie and Irene Gordon, growing up in a loving family filled with laughter and pride. JoAnn moved to Florida becoming a pediatrician’s nurse in the offices of Hayes, McCain, Moss, Townsend, Perlman and Hansbury where she worked caring for children for over 30 years, truly her life’s purpose and passion. Upon retirement her drive to help others lead her to joining the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Jacksonville FL. where she helped support and run the “Teen Volunteer Program”. In her 35 years as a volunteer, she held several positions and in February 2007 was the recipient of the prestigious Humanitarian Award- the highest honor a volunteer can receive.
Married to the love of her life, Chester Clemmer, on January 19th, 1962, they celebrated 59 years together, renewing their vows multiple times in her beloved parish. JoAnn was a devoted member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church for over 40 years and was an active participant in all church activities as well as an evangelist for the church community. Her faith was a cornerstone of who she was.
A Mother of 3, Grandmother of 5, and Great-Grandmother of 4: her smile was never bigger, or laughter stronger then when she was surrounded by them.
JoAnn is survived by husband- Chester, son, and daughter-in-law- Joe & Debbie, grandchildren- Jennifer, Nicole, David, Kristy, and Laura (husband Chad Romp) great-grandchildren Payton and RaeLynn, sister Susie (husband Greg Suttliff). Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by two of her children Howie and Nannette, her parents, brother Jack, and sister Patty.
