Jill Ellen Bishop Studstill went home to her Lord Jesus on March 11, 2020. Jill was born in Huddy, Kentucky on November 26, 1936, as the middle child of Donald and Mata Bishop. She was a twin to John (Jack) who is waiting for her to join him in Heaven. Raised in Huddy, KY; Titusville, PA; and Brandon, FL, she attended Titusville High School, Brandon High School, University of Tampa for her Graduate Degree, and University of North Florida for her Master’s Degree. Jill retired after 44 years of teaching, and she loved it! She and Richard enjoyed a great retirement trip, driving to 33 states, including Alaska, with her brother and his wife.
After Richard’s passing, she returned to tutoring at Fort Caroline Elementary School for 2 years. She then began to volunteer at Arlington Community Service, Lake Lucia, and Justina schools. She served in her church in many fun and active capacities. She loved the Lord and to serve Him. Her family and friends were a joy she was blessed with, and as she said, “I’m now moving on Up!”.
She was a majorette, actress-receiving multiple Drama Awards, band member, Sunday School/Bible School teacher, participated in Women of the Church, Alpha Chi Omega sister, class officer, honor roll student, receiver of Class Wit Award, volunteer at schools, her church (Fort Caroline Presbyterian), and the food bank. She loved life, family, and friends. Jill loved singing. Maybe she can now sing in the Heavenly Choir (she said if they have no tryouts). 😊
Survivors include her 2 children: Brad Lee Studstill (Laura) and MariLee Amba Wright (Markham) of Jacksonville; 5 grandchildren: Chelsea Neenan (Joshua), Markus and KatieLee Wright, Casey and Catherine Studstill; 2 great-grandchildren: Blaine and Tanner Neenan; 2 brothers: Harry Bishop and James Donald Bishop; sister-in-law’s Tiny Bishop, Marilyn Carrera, and Lillian Studstill; brother-in-law Fred Studstill; and many extended family and friends. Jill is preceded in death by her loving husband Richard Studstill of 47 years. She is also preceded by her parents Donald and Mata Bishop; brother John (Jack) Bishop; sister Judith Bishop; sister-in-law’s Donna Bishop and Doris Bishop; and brother-in-law Dr. Richard Carrera.
A celebration of life will be performed by Dr. David Imhoff at Fort Caroline Presbyterian Church, 3754 University Club Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32277. The service has been postponed in light of recent events, but will be updated here once rescheduled. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the church or Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. The family of Jill Studstill wishes to thank Fort Caroline Presbyterian Church and Pastor Dr. David Imhoff, Community Hospice, and San Jose Gardens for their loving and compassionate care.
