Jill Applegate, 63, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on November 15, 2017. She was born in Atlanta, GA, on July 10, 1954. Jill graduated from Terry Parker High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of North Florida. She had an accomplished career in graphic design, working in advertising before establishing Jill Applegate Design. She was an active member of AIGA, the professional organization for design.
Jill’s passion centered around the arts in a multitude of expressions, and shared in the company of dear friends. She was a gifted fine art photographer, graphic designer, singer-songwriter and gardener with a wicked sense of humor. She cherished her beloved cats Lola and Zach, who were a great source of comfort and joy. Her warmth and energy touched many souls.
Highly introspective, Jill lived deeply and courageously, journaling faithfully until the last days of her life.
She is survived by her father James R. Applegate; sisters Kathy Cogburn (Ron) and Jennifer Applegate; niece and nephew Julie Shimp and Brian Johnson; and great nieces Macie and Katie Shimp.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32207, with a memorial gathering immediately following at Greenlawn Funeral Home. A Viewing will be held on Friday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the same location. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32207.
