Jerry L. Harty, 85 of Jacksonville, Florida, beloved husband of Elizabeth Harty, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on September 24, 2024. Born on March 18, 1939 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jerry moved to Florida in 1954, attended Landon high school and was captain of the football team. He began a 50 year career at Baptist Hospital working in the Baptist laboratory after school hours during his last two years at Landon. During the next 48 years he worked on his degree, became a phlebotomist, then Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, Director of Admitting and finally Physician Liaison for 15 years until his retirement in 2005. Jerry was a runner, often seen in the early morning hours wearing his Baptist Health singlet, running 29 Jacksonville River Runs and 2 Boston Marathons. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of 30 years, brother (Donald Harty of Atlanta, Georgia), sister and brother-in-law (Barbara Harty-Golder and Steven Golder of Chattanooga,Tennessee), sister (Lynn McCaffrey of Washington, NC) two precious daughters (Lee Ann and Colleen), four sons (Jerry Lee, Jr., Clay, Jamie and Maurice), 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in his name on Friday, October 18th at 10:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32207.
