Jean Mary Osinski passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was an inspiration and source of strength and love for her family. Jean’s life was defined by her faith in God and family.
Jean was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 27, 1932. She attended St. Catherine's Church and Messmer Catholic High School. She spent her early days riding horses with a school club and her nights dancing at the different churches in the area. As an adult, she would continue her love of the dance floor and traveling the country, finding adventures with friends. Jean held a variety of fascinating jobs, most notably, as an advertising secretary to Pete Fountain of the LaBlanc Corp, a music company. Her role included answering his fan mail and managing his news releases.
Jean met the love of her life, Edward Osinski, at a USO dance shortly after his return from the Korean War. They were married on September 11, 1954 and spent the next 35 years building a beautiful life and family. Ed’s work would eventually take them from Wisconsin, to North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Alabama before settling in Jacksonville, Florida. Jean and Ed shared many wonderful years together until his death in 1989.
Inspired by her family origins as German immigrant farmers, Jean had a great love of nature, gardening, and her many and varied pets. In fact, her longest job, of 25 years, was with a local veterinarian office. She spent her retirement years committed to and sharing those loves and time with family and friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents Pauline Hefter and Theodore Martin, her sister Audrey Haberkorn, and her husband Edward Osinski. She is survived by her sister Joyce Bria and husband Gary, her children Michael Osinski and wife Colleen, and Judy Hughes, her four beloved grandchildren, Morgan Hughes and her partner Peter Wright, Lauren Osinski, Jacob Hughes and his wife Samantha, Eric Osinski, her great grandson Forest Wright, and favorite nephew Bob Haberkorn and his wife Cindy.
Services will be held November 23rd, 2024 1:00 pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church followed immediately by a graveside memorial at Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice, McGraw Center for Caring.
May Jean rest in peace, forever in our hearts and memories.
