Janice “Jean” Story Lamb, 84, passed away on Thursday morning September 21, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born in Keysville, Virginia on February 23, 1933 to Argus Winfield Story & Blanch Elizabeth Sherrill Story. She was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Argus, Jr., John & Ned. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Cicero Harrison Lamb, III; daughter, Becky Wofford (Brian); son, Doug Lamb; and her beloved sister, Jo Culpepper of Chesapeake, Virginia. Jean is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Erin (Jason), Madeleine, Natalie & Patrick; as well as 1 great-grandchild, River. She also opened her arms to her 4 step grandchildren, Brenna, Laura (Chris), Brian and Savannah; as well as 2 step great-grandchildren, Dylan & Gemma.
Jean was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was everything to her and her happiest times were when her family members were all together. She was an active member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteering in the church office. She was an avid and talented seamstress and a great cook, always insisting on hosting & cooking all holiday dinners in her home. She will be remembered for her sweet smile, and her happy and funny disposition.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, at 11 o'clock in the morning with Dr. Kyle Reese, officiating. Reception to follow at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32207.
