Graduated from Fitzgerald High School in Fitzgerald, GA in 1946.

Irene worked as a billing agent for Sears, Roebuck and Company until she met and married the love of her life, Ralph Carson Howell. Sharing 64 happy years in their Christian home. They raised two children while she managed bookkeeping for her husband's business. Ralph preceded her in death on May 30th, 2019.

She is survived by her son, Samuel Vaughn Howell (Lori Patterson Howell) and her daughter, Robin Howell Pidhorodeckyj (Roman Pidhorodeckyj) as well as several grandchildren; Carson Howell (Rachell), Clayton Howell, Jenna Pidhorodeckyj, and Roman C. Pidhorodeckyj. Her son-in-law Roman O. Pidhorodeckyj preceded her in death. Her great-grandchildren include; Hudson Howell (2 years) and Scotlyn Howell ( 1 month).

All of Irene's siblings have gone to be with our Lord. Her sisters, Rosa Mae V. Williams , her twin sister; Kathleen V. Flowers, and sister, Jewel V. Stokes, all of Fitzgerald, GA, and brother; Thomas Ray "Jack" Vaughn of Vidalia, GA. Her siblings blessed her with 3 generations of nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her sweet and loving spirits and her generous gift of caring for others.

Irene will be laid to rest at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Boulevard Jacksonville, Florida 32207, on Saturday, December 5th at 2pm.
