Ida Louise Bateman Koleda, 92, of Jacksonville died August 22, 2014. Louise was born in Odum, Georgia on October 11, 1921 to Charlie and Zell Bateman and grew up in Apopka, Florida with two sisters and two brothers. Louise attended Florida State College for Women (FSU) where she received her BA degree in Education in 1943.
In 1946 she married Peter Koleda and moved to Jacksonville. Daughters Karen and Andrea soon followed. She taught in Duval County public and private schools for over 15 years. The true center of her life and heart were family, home and church. Louise had a devoted relationship with Jesus Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. She shared her love of the Bible by teaching Sunday School for over 40 years at Lakeshore Baptist Church and First Baptist Jacksonville.
Her pride and legacy is her loving family whom she served in many ways. She was a doting grandmother who spent many days helping care for her young grandchildren. Louise truly had a servants heart and helped care for her elderly father for ten years. She is survived by daughters Karen Rebello and Andrea (David) Harden; brothers Chris and Charlie Bateman and sister Margaret Via, grandchildren Kellie (Foyt) Ralston, Jeremy (Maria) Harden, Chad (Liz) Harden and Aaron (Deb) Harden; and great grandchildren Tip, Seth and Etta Ralston, Sydney, Taylor and David Harden, Makenzie and Konnor Harden and Ruby Harden.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Edgewood/Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, FL with a memorial service to follow at First Baptist Church Ortega at 11AM on Saturday, August 30, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
