You are an amazing father. I don't say were an amazing father because although you have passed on, you are still doing amazing things for me. I continue to live, love and grow daily  based on the life teachings and love you shared with me for the time that I was so blessed to have you here. Dad, you are forever loved and missed.

I've  been thinking of you and mom so much.  Although, I feel so much pain from missing you both I feel your presence in my every move.  I love you both and thank you for being great parents.

It's been a year since I've had one of your hugs, seen your smile, heard your voice or heard your laugh.  We speak of you often and your memory has brought the family closer than ever.  We have all learned from you and have tried to apply all of lessons you have shared.  We have seen and felt the love you left here on earth with us.  You were a true leader and mentor and left your love in our hearts 💕  I pray for the family every night to find ease and comfort from the pain of loosing you.  You are loved and missed by us all.  Thank you so much for being the dad you did not have to be, Because of the blessings from you, I am me.  Love and hugs to heaven and back. Your daughter.

To Myrtice and family  so sorry  to hear  about  Homer what a shock. I will miss his phone  calls  they always  made my day out  of the  blue. If it's  any consolation  to you his mother  and brothers and  sisters  and my father  Andy surely  will  be there  for him probably  fishing  and shooting  the breeze . Allison 

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share a memory, a thought, a prayer, and a moment of love in such a difficult time. I could go on for days about how great of a father he didn't have to be.  He was a step father who stepped in perfectly and not only filled my real dads shoes completely but he filled mine and my brothers' hearts completely which also extended to our children, grandchildren and of course my mother.  He touched the heart of every person he met and was as real as they get.  He was a true example of true love.  We were blessed to have him the 77 years he was with us because he was active and lively right up to the last minute. He made life count. He will forever be remembered for the amazing father that he was to us. Love you Dad. ♡

I remember visiting my Aunt Myrtice, Uncle Homer, cousins; Brian, Michael and Rhonda in Georgia and in Florida. Uncle Homer was always happy & welcoming, he was a family man, and he was a positive person in my life. He took care of his family(Aunt and Cousins) and I especially wanted to thank him (and Aunt Myrtice) one day for taking care of our Granny Hulett! Praying for family and friends... ♥

Mrytice and family, we are so sorry to hear this news.   Homer was like another grandfather to our children for a long time and was part of shaping their young minds.   We are praying for comfort and peace for you during this time.

Mr. Homer Dowden was an exceptional human being and I'm so glad and grateful to God that he was such a wonderful husband to Myrtice and father to the family.  He was indeed a shining example of what a good man is, and can do.  My prayers for God to comfort you all with His love. Love you , Rhonda! I am here for you.

John and I send our deepest sympathy to your family.  Everyone always loved Homer! We will always remember him for his kind ways and warmth at your family times together.  We admired him for his big heart of service - he always looked for ways to bless those around him. We sure will miss him and pray for God’s comfort to you all as you mourn such a huge loss. I am heartbroken over Homer’s passing.  He was THE ultimate neighborhood dad to all of us kids living nearby. We always felt safe when he was around and he was a good to all of us.  
I have many memories of Homer being the enforcer when we acted out.  When Homer told us to do something or not do something, we did what he said. He will be missed by a lot of neighborhood kids, me included.  We can only hope to be in the same heavenly neighborhood as Homer.
