Homer is survived by his loving Wife of 49 years Myrtice Hulett Dowden, Sisters, Ruth Dowden Moyer, Dorothy Jean Dowden, Mary Ann Dowden Shafer, Doris Roberts Boyd, Pronounced Children, (2) Sons Michael J Morris (Michelle), Bryan K Morris (Jamie) (1) Daughter Rhonda Casaletto-Long (John & Destiny) (3) Grandsons, Bryan Allen Morris (Brittany), Gregory M Morris (Megan), Christopher P Aucoin (Lauren) (4) Granddaughters, Dawn Morris McGuckin (Shannon), Christina Morris Taylor (Zach),Amanda M Andrews (David) Brianne J Aucoin (12) Great Grandchildren Paityn, Harper, Iyla, Cason, Beau, Maelyn, Jaxon, Baxley, Brody, Hadley, Raelyn, Jayden
Homer was a graduate of FCCJ, and a retired employee of CSX railroad, he served in the US Marine Corps and was Decorated with a Good Conduct Medal 1st Award and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.
Homer had a love of sports and the Florida Gators. He volunteered for many years at Normandy Athletic Association Coaching and Managing the Equipment room mentoring and shaping the lives of the youth of our community. He made a difference that shined a light down on the westside of Jacksonville. Homer was a Christian, was saved and believed in the Lord and will be waiting to see us all again in Heaven.
A visitation will be held Thursday August 13 from 9-10:30 am, a Funeral Service at 10:30 followed by a Committal Graveside at 11:30am located all at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home located 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32205.
