Gerard Edward Martin, age 83, passed away May 4, 2017 in Orange Park, Florida. Gerard was born on September 4, 1933 in Bronx, New York to Gerard and Edna Martin. He proudly served his country and retired as a communications officer in the United States Navy. Gerard loved to garden. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gerard is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Felicisima; two daughters, Jacquiline Featheringill (Rex) and Araceli Thompson (Tim K.); his loving grandchildren Robert Warren and Louise Leggette (James); and loving great-grandchildren Ezra, Milani, Shasha, and Henry Kai.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32244, with Father James Kaniparampil CMI officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at 10:00am at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow at 2:00pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
