Gerald C. Newman, 75, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. Gerald was born November 9, 1939 in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Roscella (Booth) Newman. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of Woodstock Baptist Church, and the Cherokee Of Georgia Tribal. He was a retiree of Duval County School Board. Gerald enjoyed traveling, playing tennis and was a very social person who made new friends easily. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 20 years Emilie Newman; sons Matthew Elmer Newman (Kathy), Jay Goronal (Gladys) and Jeffrey Goronal; daughter Kimberly Jean Newman; brothers James Newman (Ruth) and Frank Ritz (Cindy); granddaughter Darien; grandsons Jeric Goronal and Jacob Goronal; and great grandson. Family will receive friends and family 5:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday October 29, 2015 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, www.townandcountryfuneralhome.com. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 30, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Riverside Memorial Park.
