George Cyril Yanchik Jr., 71, went home to be with the Lord Saturday September 7th 2019 in Jacksonville, Florida.
George was a professor of Art, History and Architecture. He taught high school in White Plains, NY as well as classes at SUNY Purchase. George then moved to Palm Bay, Florida where he continued to share his passion for history and the arts to elementary through high school students. He retired to his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania where he continued to express his creativity through creating Art. He spent the last 4 years of his life in Jacksonville, Florida near his children and grandchildren. His love of life and adventure was contagious and never diminished despite struggling with advanced Parkinson's Disease. George was fun loving and had an ability to make people laugh and smile. He regularly attended New Life Christian Fellowship and loved to worship. His determination was an inspiration to many.
George is survived by his daughter Jennifer Nields, son Christopher Yanchik, Grandchildren Matthew, Bradley, Natalie, Eliana, Piper and Asher of Jacksonville, Florida as well as siblings Dennis Yanchik, Paulette Schalk, and Leila Malone of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
