Frances McLane Long passed away on September 25th, 2016. Frances was born in Defuniak Springs, Florida on January 7th, 1944 but, she spent the vast majority of her life in Jacksonville, Florida. Her father, Charles N. McLane and mother, Mattie R. McLane raised her and her two sisters, in a loving home off of Hood Road in Mandarin. Frances graduated from DuPont High School in 1963. While attending, she met her future husband and the love her life, John H. Long Jr. also of Mandarin. They were married in August of 1963 and spent the next 47 years together until his death in September 2010. They were inseparable and lived their lives to the fullest. John and Frances had three children. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne L. Davis with Glen Davis, 3 granddaughters Hunter, Hayden, and Heather. Son, John H Long III with Alicia, 2 grandchildren Jessica and John IV; Son, Joel N. Long with Christie, 3 granddaughters Carson, Connor, and Codi with Michael Gardner and great grandchild Jenna Gardner. Frances is survived by sisters, Margaret M. Sustarsic with Joe Sustarsic and Charlotte M. Sullivan with Russell Sullivan. Frances devoted her life to her family and to John. She worked a s a florist with Flowers by Shirley and a bookkeeper for Pitman and Sons Concrete. She retired in 2006 from Washington Mutual Accounting, after her husband retired from BellSouth. They spent their later years traveling by RV following NASCAR, and camping across the country with a multitude of friends. These were happy times for them. Lifelong friend Brenda Green was her most devoted friend, especially in the later years. The family thanks Aunt Brenda for that comfort. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday September 28th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home Mandarin Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 29 at 11 am in the Mandarin Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Davis as Officiant. Interment will be at the Mandarin Cemetery, on Mandarin Road following the service.
