Erlene was born October 14, 1934 in SouthSound, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. She had a happy childhood on the island and graduated from Triple “C” School. In 1952, she moved to the United States where she began her career in banking and continued her profession as a Head Bookkeeper for most of her life. After retirement, she started ‘Erlene’s Creations,’ designing and crafting handmade linen decor. Erlene considered Jacksonville her home while keeping her strong connection to Grand Cayman.
Erlene had an incredible love for her children, Andrew and Roberta. She often said the two things she was most proud of were her children. She taught her children a strong foundation of faith, family and hard work which stayed with them into their adulthood. She excelled at support for her family and friends through their passions and struggles.
Erlene loved sewing, baking, reading, traveling (especially cruising) and her family most of all. She adored her dogs, Princess and Snowball. She loved to eat lobster, cassava cake, English fruit cake, mangos, and bread kind.
Erlene was preceded in death by her loving parents, Alda and Andrew Bush; siblings, Cherry Bush, Cheryl Bush, Darwin ‘Buddy’ Bush; nieces and nephews, Sebastian Clyatt Jr., Martha Johnson, and Andy Bush.
Erlene is survived by her son, Andrew Hudgins; daughter, Roberta Baca and husband Danny; granddaughters, Christine Adams and husband Louis, Erika Hoeft and husband Daniel; great grandsons, Domonic and Xavier Adams; brother, Andrew Brent Bush; sisters, Arlee Virginia Hydes and Kaye Clyatt; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Erlene will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:30AM and reception at 11:30AM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Erlene's name may be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society, www.jaxhumane.org/memorial
