Edward Bradley Dorsey

Commander (CDR) Edward Bradley Dorsey, USN, retired, passed away May 22, 2020. Born April 1, 1927, he enlisted in the US Navy in Jacksonville, Florida on April 17, 1945. He graduated from Aviation Radioman School in 1945 in Memphis, TN, followed by Naval Air Gunnery School in Yellow Water, Florida. He flew in a variety of Navy airplanes, primarily PBM seaplanes with deployments to Japan and the Philippines during the Korean War. He was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 1956 and was selected as an Ensign Limited Duty Officer in 1958. He qualified as a Naval Flight Officer in 1959. After various flying billets, he spent a year (1968) in Vietnam in Heavy Attack Squadron Twenty-One. In 1972 he served on the USS Ticonderoga, when they recovered the Apollo 17 spacecraft near American Samoa in the South Pacific. This was the last flight to the moon. Ed retired August 1, 1975 after 30 years of Naval service.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Pat; two daughters Terri Jackson (Tracy) and Becky Fussell; grandchildren Brad Jackson (Kristin) and Chandler Fussell; and great grandchildren Lewis Jackson and Clara Jackson.

The family will gather privately on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please designate donations to the Wounded Warrior Project® | Support Warriors | Donate Today‎
