Dominick (Buck to family and friends) was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Anthony and Jenny (Cantillo)
Buccarelli, the oldest of three boys, but second to his big sister, Concetta (Connie). The family grew up
in Linden, New Jersey. Buck attended Rutgers University but left school to enlist in the US Army Air
Forces during World War II, where he proudly served as an Ammunitions Handler in the Philippines,
earning the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He married Joan (Demcoe) and shortly resided in Perth Amboy and Fords, before becoming a long-time
resident of Woodbridge, New Jersey, where he and Joan raised their family. Summers were spent on
Long Beach Island, which he always held dear to his heart. They moved to Monmouth Beach, New
Jersey as empty nesters, and more recently relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where they’ve resided
since 2012.
Buck was a pipe-fitter for Esso Bay Oil, with his father Anthony, for several years, after his departure
from the Air Force. He then became a Cadillac and Buick salesperson with Polkowitz Motors, which later
became McGuire Motors, from where he retired. During his career, he earned many sales awards,
giving him and Joan numerous travel opportunities. They especially liked to travel to Florida, Aruba, the
Bahamas, and Las Vegas.
Buck took great pride in his family, and spent many traditional family Sunday dinners with family, and
afterwards playing Liverpool, a card game, for dessert.
Buck also was an avid airplane fan, and loved to fly. He obtained his pilot’s license during his 60’s, and
became instrument rated. He also took pleasure in having a green thumb, and enjoyed taking care of
plants and rescuing those especially neglected from friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; son John Buccarelli and his wife Lori Brown Buccarelli of Mount
Pleasant, South Carolina; daughter Lisa Hunt and her husband Ty of Jacksonville, Florida; and two
daughters from a previous marriage: Terri Buccarelli and Toni Buccarell. He is also survived by his
treasured grandchildren, Kyle Hunt and his wife Keri of Dacula, Georgia; Tara Messer and her husband
Drew of Jacksonville, Florida; Jake Buccarelli, Sam Buccarelli, Samantha Brown, and Devon Brown; one
great grandson Hannibal Hunt, and also by his brother Anthony Buccarelli of Hollywood, Florida. He was
predeceased by his sister Connie, and recently by his brother Vito Buccarelli of Clark, New Jersey, in
2019.
A Celebration of LIfe will be planned as soon as conditions make it possible.
