Diane lived her young life in Michigan where she was a champion swimmer, moving to Long Island, New York where she graduated high school. She lived 10 years in California prior to settling in Jacksonville where she raised her son, Cory.
Diane worked at her parent’s Taylor Rental Center, and then at Shands Hospital/ U of F College of Medicine for many years. She was a talented goldsmith and jewelry designer, enjoyed traveling and raising her son. She vounteered at CISV as a youth advisor and event volunteer. CISV promotes peace through children by building international friendships. Cory has been active with CISV since he was 11 years old.
Diane is remembered for her love of people, caring for friends, and an enormous laugh. Once she started telling a story, all who were listening would be laughing. A nature lover, she enjoyed animals, her cats, fishing, camping and anything out of doors. She also loved to dance, tell stories, laugh and have a good time. Most of all she loved her family, especially her son Cory.
Diane was preceded in death by her loving parents, Roy and Elaine Johnson of Jacksonville. Surviving are her beloved son Cory, her sister, Cari Johnson Pelava (Edgar) of Minneapolis, her brother, Glenn R. Johnson of Thomaston, ME, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 14, from 5 – 7 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL, 32207. A Celebration of Her Life will be Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
