Dee Rea passed away January 21, 2022 at home in the company of her daughter and long-time day care giver Maria. Preceded by her parents George and Elanor Kutzy, her husband Bud H. Rea, Jr, her brother and his wife Norm and Carol Kutzy, her daughter Karen Bray and her step-daughter Linda Varnell. She is survived by her daughter Pam Sneden, step-son Bud H. Rea, III (Sandy) and step-daughter Donna Allen(Mark).
Dee was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Flint Technical High School in 1951 married, worked in a bank and became a mother prior to moving to Jacksonville In1960. She worked at Bray and Singletary as a legal secretary for many years and retired at age 50. She then began her most fulfilling career as wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by all her grandchildren are Jayne Flanagan (Barry), Greg Gluchowski(Norma), Jillian Onessimo(Sean), Joseph Sneden(Nikki), Jackie Varnell(Ashley), Traci Ivey(Nick), Brandon((Megan), Brian, and Katie(Greg) Rea. She babysat and spoiled her great grand children PJ, Robbie, Ryan, Lucinda, Jonathan, Crystal, Vanessa, Emerson, Riley, Sawyer, Bradley, and Peyton. She was affectionately known as Grandee to the St. Augustine and Alabama greats Owen, Gab, Autumn, Connor, Adelyn, Wyatt, and Harper. She was also the great great grandmother of Cameron, Callie and Christopher.
Dee was a great friend, did volunteer work at hospitals and enjoyed working at voting polls. She was helpful, quick with a smile, social and thoughtful in her actions and choice of words. She enjoying gardening, the symphony, dining (at home or out), traveling, walking and spending time with family and friends.
The memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in San Jose Episcopal Church , 7423 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32217 followed by a gathering of friends and family at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
In lieu of flowers donations are requested for Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, San Jose Episcopal Church or local charities of your choice.
