David Michael Warthen , age 58, passed away on September 24 at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, he served in the United States Navy for 6 years and married Pamela Caron while stationed at Naval Station Mayport in 1978. He loved teaching Baseball to children and volunteered at Rondette Park , also coaching all three of his boys through their baseball years. He loved the beach, and before his illness he walked the length of Little Talbot Island every Sunday morning. He was also planning to return to coaching children's baseball. He was a maintenance mechanic with Flint Inc Corporation for 28 years until its closure in 2009.
David was predeceased by his father Harry Bedford Warthen. He is survived by his wife Pamela, sons Cole, Chase and David and by his mother Mary Lois, sister Kerry Opdike, brothers Larry, Daniel, Tim, Tom and Scott Warthen.
He will be missed terribly.
The Warthen family will receive family and friends Wednesday September 29, 2010 for a memorial service at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home 10:00 A.M.
