David S. Smith, 65, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. He was born on August 8, 1947 in Ocala, Florida to the late Daniel Thomas Smith, and Viola Mae Briggs. David served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a member of The American Legion, Post 0137 of Jacksonville, FL., member of the VFW, Post 7909 of Jacksonville, FL., member of the Commanders Club with the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed his fishing, shooting pool, and sports. David was a family oriented man, and loved his family with unconditional love. He was very loving, caring, and always forgiving. He was proud to serve his Country, and proud to show, and express his patriotic passion to the United States of America. David was an animal lover, and he is now reunited with his 5 dogs, that he raised throughout his years. He is preceded in death by his son, Davey; his brother, Thomas; his 3 sisters, Ruthie, Pat, and Judy. David is survived by his 3 brothers, Fred, Bruce, and Roger; his 4 sisters, Vera, Joyce, Betty, and Sherry; his numerous nephews, and nieces, including his nephew, George and niece, Angie, whom were at his care anytime he needed anything, and caring for him daily. The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32205. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00am, in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL.
