David Levy, 84, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 in Jacksonville, Fla. Beloved husband to Janet Carol Levy, dear father to Meridith Towne (Jody), Harold Levy, and Robin Levy; stepfather to Michael DeAgro and Tamela Bailey. Cherished grandfather to Jamie, Mitchell, Christopher, Courtney and Jessica; step Grandfather to Sage and Veyda. Great Grandfather to Cody, Emma and Braydon. Also survived by twin siblings Elaine and Eddie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, June A. Levy, son David A. Levy, and 11 brothers and sisters, Dottie, Bennie, Herbie, Leo, Ida, Carl, Kitty, Jerry, Jimmy, Tommy and Rose.
Mr. Levy was born in Cleveland, Oh., eventually moved to Belmont, Ma. and moved to Florida in 1980. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 19 and was very proud of the six years he served on the USS Wilkinson DL-5, followed by six years in the Coast Guard. After the military, Mr. Levy worked for Cleveland Transportation, then joined Greyhound Bus Lines in 1962 where he spent the next 32 years ensuring people were being transported safely to their favorite destinations. After Greyhound retirement Mr. Levy spent the past 22 years operating Laundromats. Mr. Levy was very active in Military Reunion events and enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing humor, going on cruises and greeting customers at his Laundromats. His beautiful smile and warm, loving heart will be greatly missed by all.
Family will receive visitors at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, on Thursday, December 12th at 10:30 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am, with a well-deserved Celebration of Life to follow at noon. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery for veterans, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, Fla.
