Cynthia was a beloved and devoted wife of Aaron H. Brown, cherished mother of Cindy Cahoon (Sammy), Brenda Rolison (David), Diane Brown-Smith (Mark), and Sharon G. Brown, cherished grandmother to Chanda Wright (Mark), Alicia Smith (Ryan), David Rolison, Jr. (Christy), Dana Umstead (Ryan), Brittany Weinbrenner (John), Tate Brown-Smith (Hillary) and cherished great-grandmother to David III, Isabelle, Blake, Doria, Cole, Brayden, Mason, August, June, and Brooke. Cynthia is survived by her immediate family, a sister, Sonja C. Wright (Emmett), brother-in-law, Kenneth R. Brown, Liana Munro, many loving nieces & nephews, and countless friends.
Cynthia was one of seven children born to C.W. and Lucy Chancey. While a youth, she was an active member of Murray Hill Baptist Church and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1946. Cynthia and Aaron met during their senior year and later married in 1950 where they began their Christian life together. Cynthia was a respected and loved church member, Sunday School teacher, and choir member at Terry Parker Baptist Church where she and Aaron raised their family. Cynthia received her degree in teaching from Jacksonville University in 1973 and began teaching in the Duval County Public School System where she taught, mentored, and positively influenced many young lives. Cynthia loved Jesus her entire life and that never faltered, even as she lived with dementia in her later years. Christian faith was an essential part of her being and she lived a life of integrity, dignity, grace, compassion, and kindness towards others. Cynthia loved her family, friends, and most importantly her sweetheart and husband of 70 years, Aaron, who loved her, protected her, and devoted his entire married life to her. Their love story is all-inspiring, and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are truly blessed and thankful to God for the legacy of love Cynthia & Aaron have left them. When Cynthia entered the gates of heaven on the day of her homegoing we know she heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
