The sweet, fierce spirit of CJ (Julia Scott) Burns, 17, left this earthly body on September 23, 2017. Those of us who knew CJ were inspired by his grace and indomitable will as he lived with neuroblastoma, a deadly childhood cancer. CJ loved all plants and animals, none more than his first dog, Judy. He was an avid reader, a talented writer, and an aspiring photographer and artist. CJ was a born storyteller and loved to make others smile. Never was there a child who loved more or was surrounded more by love. CJ’s courage and grace; sense of humor; passion for all that engaged him; love for his family, animals and friends; intelligence, wisdom and amazing creativity will be an inspiration to all who knew and loved him, and he will live in our hearts forever. CJ is survived by his younger brother, Thomas; his father, Tom Burns, and his mother, Teri Curry, along with a host of precious aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32256. A reception will follow at Deercreek Country Club, 7816 McLaurin Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32256, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
