Charles James Lockhart (88) passed away peacefully on February 19, 2023 after a long illness. Charles was born to Scotty and Agnes Lockhart on September 9, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the youngest of three children (Helen Adeeb and Agnes White). His family later moved to Jacksonville where he graduated from Landon HS in 1952.
Charles began his college studies at the University of Florida, but after just one year transferred to Florida State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Restaurant Finance Management in 1958. He worked for various restaurants as a manager but not limited to the Sea Turtle, Bono’s and the Green Turtle and spent over 15 years as an auditor for Majik Market. He loved gardening and all things that entailed landscaping design. You could find him almost every day out in the yard in his later years. Charles loved Florida State football, miniature golf, tennis, his church Sunday School group at Fruit Cove Baptist Church and most of all spending time with his family. He leaves behind a wife (Gale) of 49 years and 4 children: Leslie (Lyle), Katherine, Mary Jean and Michael.
His kind and gentle soul, infectious laugh and sense of humor will forever be missed. We love you bub!
A celebration of life will take place at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207 on Saturday March 11, 2023 at 1:00.
