Charles A. Baker, 90, went to be with his Savior on December 7, 2012. Charles was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 6, 1922 and was the oldest son of William and Gladys Baker. Charles was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and participated in the war in Europe. He was a graduate of the University of Florida with an agricultural engineering degree, and retired after 27 years from the International Harvester Company. He was an active member of both Mayfair Baptist Church and Mandarin Baptist Church.
He was married to his life-long love, Dorothy, for 69 years who predeceased him on September 23, 2012. Charles’ deep abiding love of Dorothy, his daughters and grandchildren, and his love of God and country will be his enduring legacy.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Whipple, Beverly Dobson (Richard), Cheryl Corrado (Neil), and Barbara Albertini (Emil); grandchildren, Kristen Starra, Corey and Kayla Corrado, Kristina, Victoria, and Gennady Albertini, and his angel caregiver, Towanda Nathan.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home. A military burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
