Carol was born on July 22nd, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, to Lawrence and Glenna Hulst. She was the very proud mother of boys James and Douglas, who were the light of her life. She delighted in telling the accomplishments and antics of these two boys throughout their childhood and growth into fine adults. She would tell everyone how proud of these two boys she was. In her early twenties she completed her schooling and became a licensed Cosmetologist. She worked as a Cosmetologist in the St. Louis area until she moved with her two sons, James and Douglas, to Jacksonville, FL to be near her parents and her siblings; brothers Larry Hulst, Donald (BoBo) Hulst, and Ronald Hulst, and her sisters Mary Jo Fiddie and Barbara Collier. She worked as a cosmetologist and bartender around the Jacksonville area.
In early 1976 she met the love of he life, Terry Lee. They married on April 7th, 1977. Terry retired from the U.S. Navy in December 1982, and they moved to Wenatchee, WA to begin a new life. They returned to Jacksonville 26 years later in order for Carol, Terry, and the boys to spend more time with her family. Carol and Terry (who she nicknamed “The Little Guy”) enjoyed traveling, mostly to gambling destinations such as Las Vegas, Reno, Biloxi, and Hard Rock Tampa.
Carol loved to garden in her back yard, and really loved to visit thrift shops (which she called “Junk Stores”) with her sister Mary Jo, and her nieces Deanna, Toni, and Sherrie Ann. They would spend hours going from store to store looking for bargains. Then on weekends they would all meet at the “Flea Market” to spend the day. These were moments she really enjoyed. She was most happy with family and was truly loved by all. She has left a huge hole in this family that can never be filled.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years Terry, her twin boys James and Douglas, her sister Mary Jo Fiddie, her brother Ronnie, her beloved nieces Deanna Mosley, Toni Hopke, and Sherrie Demps, and numerous nephews grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all as she was the “Shining Light” of this family.
