Brenda Elise (Hall) Rice was born in Macon, Georgia on December 9, 1948, to her parents Clyde & Rebecca Hall. She grew up in Macon. Georgia where she graduated from Lanier/Miller High School in 1967. Continued her education at Valdosta State College and University of Georgia in Education with a master’s degree. In 1972 she married her hubby Thomas L. Rice for almost 52 years. She was a public school teacher in Georgia, Korea, and Florida (West Palm Beach, Sebring, and Duval) for over 40 years. Brenda retired in 2015 from Duval County School Board in Jacksonville, FL.
Brenda was the very best loving wife and mother. She was a Christian. A generous spirit and loved to help others. She was a sweet, beautiful person on the inside and out. She was a supportive influence on family and friends. She was an expert cook, especially her Senator Russel sweet potato casserole. She could take simple ingredients and make a gourmet meal. She was an expert on finding coupons and ways to make extra money. She loved to travel and enjoyed every minute of exploring.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clyde Sr. & Mildred Hall, her father and stepmother, Clyde Jr. and Chiquita Hall, her mother and stepfather Rebecca and Lawerence Wright, her sons Peter Rice and Brian Rice, Her Aunt & Uncle Virginia & Tom Colbert, and her sister and brother by marriage Nancy & Walter Dodson.
Brenda is survived by her sister Linda (Wilson) Culbreth, her husband Thomas Rice, her daughter Melissa Rice, her stepbrothers Charles Thomas (Donna) Wright, Joseph Lawerence Wright, and Clyde Hall III, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and few great-great ones also.
Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm Saturday January 20th at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home (11801 San Jose Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32223). Funeral service will be 12pm-1pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home (same location as visitation) on Saturday January 20th.
