She graduated from Robert E. Lee in 1984. She spent time working at her family's produce market booth, and worked other various jobs until she found her true passion working in childcare at A Little Preschool. She worked there for over 30 years and greatly impacted countless lives, young and old. She took on several roles at the preschool, including cook, teacher, bus driver, and director, and eventually became the owner in 2012.
She attended church at Evangel Temple for over 30 years and loved the Lord and her church family. She spent many years working in the church nursery, teaching Missionettes, and serving wherever she could.
Brenda alongside her twin sister was the youngest of 10 children born to Mary Ruth Combs and Elic David Combs. Brenda married young at the age of 16, to the love of her life David John Grimes and they were married for 41 years. They had two daughters, Brittany Brown (TJ ) and Chelsea Richardson (Kyle) whom she loved dearly. She was devoted to her family and they spent a lot of time together going to church, traveling, and hosting family gatherings.
She loved her entire family fiercely, but a whole new love transpired when her granddaughter Ellias Clark Brown was born. Her granddaughter called her Nala, and she was the best Nala ever. She loved spending time with her and spoiling her only granddaughter. #NalasGirl
Brenda had a sincere heart, she lived a life full of love, and joy. She is remembered by friends and family as always being kind, welcoming, and generous.
The memorial service to honor Brenda will be held at Evangel Temple 5755 Ramona Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205, on Saturday October 5, 2024 at 2 PM.
