Bobby (Robert) Leo Pope

Robert was born on December 6, 1929, in Dudley, Georgia. He graduated from the Lanier High School for Boys. He served in the army as a Corporal from 1951-1953. While in the army, he completed college correspondence courses to prepare for work at JC Penney in St. Louis Missouri. His job took him to Columbus GA, Brunswick GA, and finally to West Palm BeachFL, where he met Jacqueline (Sistie) Robson, who would become his wife of 65 years.

His attention turned to the retail fabric industry, where he would eventually own five fabric stores in Jacksonville Florida, which would become his home for 61 years. He next opened a commercial real estate business and continued to drive to his office until just before his passing.

Robert is survived by his wife Sistie Pope, son Bob Pope, Jr.,daughter-in-law Zhongli Wang, grandson Jack Pope, cousinsWallace Miller (wife Shirley), and Peggy Killingsworth.

He was predeceased by his mother Allie Daniel, father Hardie Pope, stepfather Pringle Daniel, and sister Betty Glore.

The funeral service will be at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32205 on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Visitation begins at 11:00 am, funeral services at 12:00 pm, and burial at 1:00 pm. The family will be there to welcome friends and relatives.
