She was born June 9, 1948, in Colver, PA to Thomas and Margaret Wilkie. Shortly after her mother's passing, Beverly moved to Michigan in 1962 and her final destination of Jacksonville, FL in 1964 to live with her Aunt and Cousins.
Beverly attended Andrew Jackson High School and graduated in 1966. Around this time is when she met the "Love of her Life" John Robert Mathis Sr. which led to their marriage in 1966. Shortly thereafter, they had Missy, Tisha, Kelly, and John Jr. They quickly bought a home that still belongs to the family today. This home saw every important moment and was always a place that a friend or family member could count on for a meal or a place to stay.
As time passed Beverly loved her routines and her home. She loved her Starbucks coffee and loved her McDonalds creamers when she visited North Carolina. She was often found smoking on her porch and loved her T.V. shows. She loved cooking and enjoyed eating out. She loved sharing food and often ask everyone at the table "for a bite", and somehow, it always filled her up. Most of all, she loved spending her time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them grow up and was always proud to see them. She often call them "My Darling" as a term of endearment. She always had a smile, and her family was her greatest treasure. She was loved dearly by everyone and will greatly missed.
Beverly is survived by her 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Beverly will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
