Betty was born Betty Anne Connors on January 25th, 1957, to June Teter, mother, and Albert Connors, father, in Patchogue NY on the South Shore of Long Island. Attended Patchogue-Medford High School and graduated in 1975.
Betty retired in February 2021 from First Coast Energy where she was an auditor, general ledger accountant, and fuels accounts manager. Throughout her 22 years there, her hard work and efficient management of First Coast's relations with Motiva Shell and Florida Rock ensured the continued availability of fuel at all their Daily's/Shell Stations in Jacksonville and other various Florida locations. For this, she received First Coast's Highest award for exceptional performance in 2008, acceptance to the President's Circle.
Betty was a caring and giving individual. Her children were the jewel of her eye and her grandson was the diamond of that bunch. She supported her family members often and thought little of herself. She would easily offer help to her friends when they needed it. The love in her heart was her greatest asset.
She loved baking and crafting. While at First Coast, many enjoyed her varied baked goods on special occasions. As a special joy, many of her family and friends also received personalized crafted frames and display boxes to memorialize a loved one, pet, or event. She truly enjoyed the knowledge that those in receipt of these have cherished them so.
She enjoyed the comfort of her pets. Whether it was her long hair cat, Rocky, who used to snuggle against her back when she laid down in pain because of a neck injury to comfort her. And now with her darling Pekingese Mix, Max, who does the same while she endured her recent pains. She would also spend hours on her front porch enjoying the cardinals, blue jays, woodpeckers, and more bask in the sun, settle on the bird feeders in her trees, and frolic in the bird bath.
She would also enjoy traveling on trips with her doting husband. Walking through craft stores and even flea markets to obtain small items for her crafting. She would peruse through craft shows to observe the variety of available tools and materials. But she mostly loved sitting on a balcony off the beach to take in the beauty of the ocean, the scents of the seas, and the warmth of a sunset.
Betty was first married to her late husband, Heinz Hans Gross, who passed on August 24th 1977 while serving in the US Army. Their only son, William Lewis Gross, passed on January 6th, 2021.
She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Edmar; her grandsons, Jordon and Shawn; her daughter, Stephania and her husband, Sam; her sister, Cathy; her brother, Roy; her nephew, Ryan, with his fiancée, Jennifer; her brother-in-law, Ray with his spouse Michael; and her niece, Zoe.
The viewing is at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park on 7242 Normandy Blvd from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, August 8th. Interment will be conducted graveside at the same Memorial Park at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 9th.
