Betty Lynn Masters, age 90, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 in Jacksonville, Florida. Betty was born on December 22, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida, on the St. John’s River off Dora Street, to Bruce E. Lord and Susie Eberhart Lord. She volunteered for the USO during World War II. She was also a longtime member of First Coast Baptist Church. Betty was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was known for her love of family, and she will always be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved her. Betty left a beautiful legacy behind for many to remember always.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Masters; one daughter, Pam Buhr; one brother, William Lord; and two sisters, Mary Millan and Susie Smithwick. She is survived by her children Lamar Masters (Debby), Lynn King (Michael), and Bruce Masters; grandchildren Kristin (Daniel), Michael, Stephanie (Russ), Niki (Chris), Joey (Amanda), Bryan, Laura (Mike) , Maria, Daniel Hancock (Kiersten), and Dillon Buhr (Megan); great-grandchildren Joe, Dustin, Avery Grace, Audrey Faith, Ella, Amelia, and Easton; one sister, Edna O’Cain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 10am at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
