ANNE MCGEHEE MOSELEY passed away peacefully on her birthday, at her residence in Jacksonville, Florida on February 27th at the age of 84. She was born on February 27, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia before her family moved to Jacksonville early in her life. In the 1940’s and 1950’s she attended Hendricks Elementary School and Landon High school. After a brief move to New Jersey, the family returned to the Jacksonville area and lived at Atlantic Beach. She graduated from Fletcher High School in 1958. Following High School graduation, Anne attended Jacksonville University earning academic honors and serving as a cheerleader. She always treasured her times, experiences, and friends at Jacksonville University.
In 1960 she met the love of her life, James Moseley (Jim) and married on June 10, 1961. Jim was serving in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps with the United States Army. While at Fort Benning the couple welcomed their first child, son, James Moseley, Jr.
In October 1963 Anne and her family returned to Jacksonville and welcomed their second son John M. Moseley in June 1966. In 1974 the family moved to Deerwood in Jacksonville where they remained for over 40 years.
Anne was a great wife and mother to her two sons. She loved participating in all her son’s activities, clubs, boy scouts, team sports, and their schools, Jacksonville Episcopal High School and Wolfson High School. She was a constant presence in their lives and knew their friends as well.
Anne also loved tennis and was a member of several club teams for years where she enjoyed the competition and the friendships she made on the court. She was always active and enjoyed her time with others.
Anne lived a life of service to her family, church, and community. She was an active and devoted member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist church since the 1950’s. She participated in youth activities, Sunday school and enjoyed many friendships. She was also involved in Family Counseling Services, Inc., and served as a member of the Board of Directors. Anne was involved in many organizations and
supported Jim throughout the years. Together, they selflessly gave their time to their church, community and family.
Anne was not only a wonderful wife and mother, but she was also a sweet, caring and loving person. Always quick with a smile, she enjoyed the company of others and always tried to make her family and community better. Her faith gave her the courage to have a huge heart and she will always be remembered for being the sweet, loving, caring person who she was. While she may be missed, she will never be forgotten by those who love her.
Anne was predeceased by her loving husband of over 60 years, James F. Moseley, her parents Louise McGehee and Claude S. McGehee. She is survived by her sons James Moseley, Jr. (Heather), John M. Moseley (Jessica) and five grandchildren Kate Howard (Brian), Olin Moseley, Andrew Moseley, Frances Moseley and Alexander Sutton. She is survived by her brothers James McGehee (Shirley) and Claude McGehee (Wanda Andrews).
A memorial and celebration service will be held for Anne on Saturday June 8th, at 11:00 a.m., at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. The service will be followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
