Anna Senese passed away September 26, 2013 at the age of 95 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Lockport, New York on October 15, 1917 and was one of 7 children. She lived most of her youth in the town of Tocco da Casauria in Abruzzo, Italy. It was there she met and married the love of her life Anthony Senese. During her years in Italy she worked as a switchboard operator at a time when most people did not know what a telephone was or how to use it. She would often joke that if hadn’t been for her teaching people how to use the phone, we wouldn’t all have an iphone today.
Anna returned with her husband to the United States in 1950. They moved to Rome, New York where she gave birth to her only child, Mary Anna. The family later moved to New Haven, Connecticut where they had a very successful custom drapery business for 25 years until they retired.
Anna and Tony retired to Lee High Acres, Florida before eventually moving to Jacksonville with their daughter to be close to extended family. Her family will miss her feistiness, humor and loving nature. Anna is survived by her daughter Mary Anna, her husband of 65 years Anthony, her brother Tony, numerous nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
